(visited by Jose Osorio Azevedo)

14-Jan-2005 -- This 51N-21W confluence is in Mirandopolis county, near a small river that limits with the county of Lavinia. I was in the nearby city of Guaraçai, and I decide to visit this conference instead of trying a first visit in a more difficult confluence. My tatic was: take the secondary road from Lavinia to Fazenda Santa Adelia, and just after the bridge over the small river, try to found a terciary road to the left.

Although it was the rainy season, it was a beautiful day. I entered the confluence waypoint in my eTrex Vista GPS, commanded a "goto" and took the road. It is easy to find the secondary road when you get the SP-300 road in the NE direction, around 2 km after Lavinia. The secondary road, although unpaved, happens to be a very good one, and some 10 Km ahead I spotted a lagoon to the left. Then I realized that it was the Tres Irmaos Dam, on the important Tiete river, that flooded that small river permanently, making it an arm of the dam.

Soon I saw the bridge crossing the dam - it is the most important nearby reference. I took some photos and crossed it. According to my GPS, I was just 800 meters from the confluence. Fortunately it was in a clean pasture field. The grass was much lower than the photos of the first visit that I had seen here. There was even a terciary road in the field in the right direction, but there was a locked wooden farm gate blocking the passage by car. I parked the car in front of the gate and proceeded on foot. It was easy to cross below the wire fence aside of the gate, as well to walk in the pasture among the bulls - they were afraid of me more than I of them. It was an easy walk till the confluence.

Soon I saw two horse riders approaching. They asked me what I was doing in their land and I had some difficulty explaining them what are a GPS and a confluence. I bet they understood nothing at all, but anyway they allowed me to proceed as soon as they were convinced that I wasn't a robber, nor, even worse, an environment agent from the feared IBAMA.

The place is a neat one, in a well developed agricultural region of our country, and near a beatiful dam, that you can see in the photo to the South direction.

The confluence place only 345 meters high, and it is listed as 401m. That's because it is so near to the dam, which is somewhat lower than the region.
