14-Aug-2005 -- Although this confluence had been visited already (in 2000 and 2002). However, as I was travelling to Queensland for a business conference and I had a couple of hours to spare, I thought it was still worth a return visit to see if this area had changed much since the previous visits.
Our route to the confluence was the same as previous visitors have reported... from Brisbane, through Gympie, and towards Rainbow Beach.
We found the undergrowth near the confluence point to be very thick and knee deep. This made the 100 metre trek from the road to the target seem a lot further than it actually was. Due to the thickness of the vegetation, visibility was reduced to about 10 metres. The low visibility meant that there's not a lot to see in the photos!
The previous visitor commented that the confluence point was in a shallow rut, which implied to me that the area was dry. We found the area immediately around the confluence to be a bit marshy and soft underfoot, and it was only the thick undergrowth that stopped us from sinking into the mud.
