23-Sep-2005 -- Snorkeling trip outside Phu Quoc.
By impulse a beautiful morning on the 23rd of September 2005, we signed up to go snorkeling outside some nice small islands south of Phu Quoc, a Vietnamese island outside the coast of Cambodia. We'd just had some super days relaxing on the beach here, so some snorkeling sounded good. We headed out from the harbour of An Thoi together with Bryce Miller and Kevin Pool (U.S.), Rhoda Tretow and Marten Sund (Germany) and the local crew on the boat; Dung, Quang, Hüyng Ohuông and our captain Phu Pông.
The snorkeling was great; we stopped outside several of those untouched islands consisting just of palms and chalky white beaches, and snorkeled around the coral reefs nearby. By coincidence, Thomas noticed on his beloved GPS that we were very close to point N10 E104. After a lovely lunch of today's catch, everybody agreed (or were convienced) to stop by this point out in the ocean to make the photoes and make it official. For some, this was a super nice trip in the open sea, for others, a rather rough trip in the waves, resulting in quite a lot of food for the crabs...
At last we were safely put on shore again. The six of us decided to end the day with a nice little swim on the beach of your dreams, ending with some well earned rum & coke watching the sun set. Another perfect day in Vietnam!
