#1: Looking S across the road to the CP

(visited by Les Smithson)

11-Nov-2005 -- In Boulder for my mother-in-law's funeral, we had jet-lag and half a day to spare before the rest of the family arrived, so we decided to visit this nearby CP.

We left Boulder [going] east on Baseline and drove straight for 13 or so miles. Baseline follows latitude 40N almost exactly (apart from a wiggle around Baseline Lake), leaving only one degree of freedom for finding the CP. Having said that, we drove right past it, so doubled back and parked on the North side of the road.

The confluence is on the south side of the busy road, in a ditch and just next to a fence. According to picture #3, some lucky soul will soon own a house here.

This wasn't the most pleasant spot on earth, so I took my pictures and left soon after.

My mother-in-law was a great outdoors-person and a technology enthusiast. She would have enjoyed the trivial fun of the DCP.
