14-Dec-2005 -- Our team of National Libyan surveyors based at NAGECO Crew 201 are showing a lot of interest in claiming as many confluence points as they could visit in GSPLAJ Libya after learning all about the Project on the internet. They decided to form a scouting party and locate and visit the DCP at 27N 23E. The confluence point at 27N 23E is located 157 kilometers, as the crow flies, in a SSE direction from the current crew's base camp location. A visit to this location was conducted on the morning of 14 December 2005. The team, traveling in two separate 4x4 vehicles, departed from base camp at 7:30 a.m. and traveled a distance of approximately 172 kilometers from base camp to reach the confluence point. Detouring between sand dunes added to the actual total distance required to reach the DCP location. Due to the long distance and the remoteness of the area, the team was equipped with spare tires, survival kits, water, and proper radios for communication with base camp. The four men involved in this visit were Mohamed Zubeir, Mustafa Saad, Mahmoud Buhatua, and Ramadan Ibrahim.

The confluence point itself is located in a very remote sand dune area, and to reach it one has to traverse high sand dunes proving to be a challenging drive over sand dune ridges. Once again, the safe skillful driving and navigation techniques used by Mustafa Saad and Mohammed Zintani are to be recommended. The team reached the confluence point at 10:45 a.m. local time.

The terrain at the DCP consists of high ridges of sand dunes separated by wide undulating valleys known locally as "Wādiys". The confluence point was marked with an aluminum tag for future identification purposes. Photos were taken to show the landscape at the four quadrants as seen from the DCP location itself. The handheld Garmin GPS III Plus was used to locate the point.

The mission was a success and the team is ready to tackle a few more confluence points during their upcoming scouting trip to check prospective seismic programs to the West of the crew's current location.
