24-Jan-2006 -- CONFLUENCIAS EN VACACIONES: LA PRIMERA EN EL KM 2506

24-Jan-2006 -- CONFLUENCES ON HOLYDAYS: THE FIRST AT KM 2,506

These time was my first opportunity to combine holidays, family and confluences. I had the idea of visiting the confluences near our itineraries in the fantastic Argentinean Patagonia like a way to mark approximately our trip. We did 8,093 km in 19 days in the total round trip, visiting 13 confluences!!!!

Obviously the efforts to do successful visits would depend on the difficulties and the time available for the trip, but we would register all confluences with distance lower than 10 km without special difficulties to get them and confluences with higher distance but they would require strong efforts to reach.
An incomplete visit is a pending duty for the future to go finish it.

We departed from our home at Florencio Varela in Bs As province and two days before we arrived to Comandante Piedrabuena in Santa Cruz province, after 2,500 km on paved roads and a short stop in Puerto Madryn where I agreed with Julian Rossi to go to visit the remote 43°S 68°W on my way back.

We slept in our tent in the Pavon Island in the middle of the big Santa Cruz river, near the selected first confluence of the trip, the 50°S 69°W. More details about how we arrived here in Holidays 2006 (Days 1 to 3)

Tuesday morning, before departing to the Andes Mountain by route 9 to the west, we went to find the confluence, apparently near the route 17 but our first attempt left us at 700 meters without possibility to progress with the car due to a deep ravine. Then, we surrounded the confluence by the south and found the path used by the first visitors and we only walked 250 meters, jumping one fence. My wife and my daughter preferred to wait for us in the car.

Pablito and me reached quickly the confluence , took the photos and celebrated the first goal of the trip, at 2,506 km of our home. Now, we are ready to continue our trip to Calafate and The Perito Moreno Glacier.

The trip continue en the link Day 4th .Next confluence to visit: 50°S 72°W
