14-Feb-2006 -- Gestartet sind wir in der Stadt Badulla ca. 60 km südöstlich von Kandy. Über die Straße A5 sind wir Richtung Nuwara Eliya/Welimada bis in den Ort Hali Ela gefahren. Dort biegt Richtung Süden die A16 nach Ella ab und eine kleine Straße führte Richtung Norden zur touristischen Attraktion „Bridge Bogoda“ ( siehe Karte).

In Bogoda (einige kleine Häuser) mussten wir unser Auto und Fahrer zurücklassen . Dieser Ort lag 860 m östlich des Confluence Punktes. Von hier ging es einen unbefestigten Weg bergauf bis zum letzten Haus von Bogoda. Dort endete die Zivilisation an einem steilen Urwaldhang. Wir waren bis auf 588 m an den Confluence Punkt herangekommen.

Danach fuhren wir weiter in Richtung „Bridge Bogoda“ und erreichten noch einen Standort 680 m nordöstlich des Confluence Punkt. Die Brücke Bogota lag 980 m nördlich des Confluence Punkt.

Wer erfolgreich den Confluence Punkt 7° Nord, 81° Ost erreichen möchte sollte bereits morgens mit der Tour beginnen und mit einem einheimischen Führer den Urwald und die Reisterrassen überwinden.

14-Feb-2006 -- We began our trip in the city of Badulla 60 km south-east of Kandy. We took road A5 towards Nuwara Eliya/Welimada to the village of Hali Ela. Here road A16 leads south to Ella and a small road takes off north to the tourist attraction „Bridge Bogoda“ (see map).

In Bogoda (just a few small houses) we had to leave our car and driver behind. This village is located about 860m east of the confluence. From here we continued uphill on a dirt path to the last house of Bogoda. Here civilization ends at a steep jungle hill. We came to within 588 m of the confluence.

Afterwards we drove on towards “Bridge Bogoda” and passed a point 680 m north-east of the confluence. The Bridge Bogoda is located about 980 m north of the confluence.

To reach the confluence 7N 81E successfully future visitors should start their trip early in the day and make their way through the jungle and rice fields with a local guide.
