07-Apr-2006 -- A survey team from Nageco Crew 201 made up of three nationals and two expatriates traveled over 250 kilometers from the crew's base-camp to establish a GPS control network in the vicinity of Sabah oil field due north of the confluence point.

The team stayed in Sabah station for two weeks and although knowing that there was a confluence point in the area, they could not pass the opportunity to make a visit.

On the last day of the field work, team members convened at confluence point 28N 18E. Joe Spiteri, who was a first time visitor to a confluence point, was in charge of locating the point with a hand-held Garmin GPS III Plus. The visit to this location took place on the afternoon of 7 April 2006.

The five members of the team traveled in three 4x4 Toyota Land Cruisers. Each vehicle was equipped with all the safety items necessary for a long journey in the desert.

As can be seen in the photos, the terrain surrounding the confluence point is a relatively flat area and access to it was rather easy. The point is located at the north edge of a very large basalt area. Photos showing the landscape around this area were taken at the four quadrants.
