#1: Looking North from the CP

(visited by Peter Thompson and Kim Thompson)

02-May-2006 -- Having a week in Clearwater before going to Disneyworld gave us time to explore and visit this CP. This is our second visit to Florida, however we have not visited the Gulf areas before, so a nice drive to this CP fitted in with our plans. Left Clearwater about 10 and drove down the I75, left it to head towards Arcadia as we were not seeing a lot of the country by staying on the Interstate. Lots of development and new housing lots being developed in this area. Did a quick tour of Arcadia and then moved on towards the CP.

As we were arriving from the West along Duncan Road we took a small road into a canal estate, which put us less than 900m from the CP, however we were on the wrong side of the water, and from this stop it looked like it was going to be in the water, which I knew was not right.

Keep driving, still the water was in the way, needed the toilet, so we stopped off at a petrol station and they had a map on the wall, I was able to work out were we had been and where we had to get to, and I needed to cross the bridge which was part of the I75. Once over it was easy to get to.

Parked the hire car less than 20m from the CP. I noticed a young guy in the garage working on a motor bike, went up and explained that I was going to stand on his front lawn and take a few photo’s, he didn’t seam to mind. Took the photo’s and tried to find the closest Geocache with no success then started to head back to Clearwater, stopping of at Venice Beach and our first Cracker Barrel on the way home to get a bite to eat and also let the traffic die down on the I75 after an accident.
