06-Aug-2006 -- On Sunday the 6th at 11:00 I started the tour from my home location at Munastīr (Monastir). The confluence 35N 10E is 112 km SW from Munastīr. I had chosen to try to go in a straight line. Going SW is not so easy because the main roads go N-S or W-E. I followed this track: Munastīr, Jammāl, Karkar, Sawāsiyy, Manzil Hached, Bū Thady, crossing P2P13, then just before Sīdī Bū Zayd left direction south.
On my way I saw some beautiful salt lakes which look like frozen lakes with some snow on top. The point 35N 10E is near to Sīdī Bū Zayd just before the mountain Jabal Khašm. Thinking of what should be around the place I thought already that it could be olive trees, because you find them everywhere in this part of Tunisia. Coming nearer it came out: olive trees.
It was easy to come near by. At 5 km distance I turned left from the main road on a small track. Small tracks brought me to 600 m near the spot. In these olive tree fields there are many tracks used by the farmers. The last 600 m I walked. I didn't forget my hat, about two o'clock in Tunisia temperature was about 40°C, the sun burned. The soil is red, dry and very fine like powder.
I found the Confluence in the middle of some young olive trees. What can be seen at the spot:
- North: young olive trees and some warehouses
- East: young olive trees and some bushes
- South: just olive trees
- West: young olive trees and at the horizon the Jabal Khechem
