#1: General area, view north

(visited by Peter Scharfenberg)

08-Jul-2006 -- It was a sunny Saturday, July 8th (2.00 p. m.), five hours after landing at Kangerlussuaq airport. The first two kilometres along the “polar route”, or so-called “arctic circle trail”, had just led us from “Kelly Ville” to the second lake (see pictures 3 and 5) along the route (For more details of the trip c. f. CP N67/W53.). Here the desired confluence point (CP) is only 100 m north of the trail - c. f. the 1:100 000 map “Kangerlussuaq”.

Picture 5 (view west) shows the lake of picture 3 in the foreground. The second lake is the salt lake “Hundeso”.

Five weeks later (Saturday, August 12th, 8.00 a. m.) on board of a DASH-7 airplane heading from Ilulissat/Jacobshavn for Kangerlussuaq, we flew over this area and made picture 7.
