On sunny October Sunday we went for a family trip to Cichowo near Dolsk to Soplicowo open-air film museum. When famous Polish director Andrzej Wajda (awarded an honorary Oscar for lifetime achievement) had finished filming the great Polish poem – “Pan Tadeusz” (full title in English: “Sir Thaddeus, or the Last Foray in Lithuania”) the manor farm that “played” in the film was moved to Cichowo. Our way went through Dolsk that was only 10 km away from the 52N 17E confluence, so I decided to show to my wife and daughter my first confluence that is also our “home” confluence (it is ca. 50 km away from Poznań). My participation in the DCP project began there two and a half years ago.

We made a stop at a vantage point on a hill before Dolsk and then we headed west towards Lubiatówko. I remembered the way to the confluence quite well so I easily found the point where we turned to a forest road leading towards Brzednia forestry. We parked the car at the edge of a glade, ca. 350 m from the confluence, and we went on foot for the last leg.

I found the confluence point in the same place as before ;-), in the forest, a couple of meters form the path. However, GPS readings were quite unstable and the best accuracy I could get at the confluence was 12 m. The weather was very nice, the day was sunny and cloudless, although not very warm. We took commemorative pictures and returned to the car.

On our way to Cichowo we saw a “go-devil” (railway handcar) in Bieżyń on the Gostyń – Kościan railway line (the line is closed for passenger traffic but from time to time the go-devil rides are organized between Bieżyń and Jerka). The open air museum disappointed us a bit – the manor farm buildings were closed, and the manor house wasn’t there yet (it was to be moved there the following year). Yet, we had some fun with a pen for domestic animals – for a „city” child a real goat or ram are quite an attraction.

Drogę do przecięcia pamiętałem dość dobrze, więc bez problemu odnalazłem zjazd z szosy w boczną, leśną drogę prowadzącą do leśniczówki Brzednia.

Wykonaliśmy pamiątkowe fotografie i wróciliśmy do samochodu.
