(visited by Jean-Marie Laurent, Moussa Adamo and Edouard Kadjile)

19-Mar-2007 -- The day following our visit of the confluence point 12N 15E in North Cameroon, my job took me near to the confluence points 13N 17E and 13N 18E in Chad.

We had to go to Ati, in Batha State, to work there. We left N'Djamena at 11 a.m. after filling up the 4x4 and two 40-litre petrol cans. The road was tarmac on the first 200 kilometres up to Ngoura town, then it was a sandy track in the bush to Ati, around 250 km far away! We passed some pick-ups full of travellers which were travelling in extreme conditions (up to 40°C in the shadow).

After around 1 h of 4x4 driving to do 60 km, we turned to southeast, perpendiculary to the track which was going on to Falé, to make the 10 km to the point. We were doing between 20 and 40 km/h, trying to avoid the holes. We neede a good half hour to get there. We passed a dromadary eating leaves on a prickly tree.

The area of the Confluence is totally clear... only some trees can be seen far away... We took the photos and left quickly, we still had a long way to go. We needed another half hour to get back to the track to Ati and arrived there at 8 p.m.
