02-Nov-2007 -- For some time we have been planning to hunt the CP N9W69, located in the Portuguesa state, at 160 Km. of Barquisimeto. We conformed a team with: Eva, Tavel, Tavel jr, Irene, Rafael Jesus and me (Rosalda), leaving Barquisimeto on November 4 - 2007, at 10 am to the South in direction to Acarigua city on the new interstate 4 freeway.

At the Acarigua distributor we took the José Antonio Páez freeway heading for Turen. A highly agricultural region and home of the well knows Agricultural Colony of Turen, created by the government during the forties, this project caused a great economic, social, ecological and cultural impact without precedents in the Venezuelan history, since it allowed the improvement of the socioeconomic conditions in the field through modern technology for farming, which redounded in higher production and the improvement of the quality of their inhabitants' life.

The Plan of the Agricultural Unit of Turén incorporated a numerous contingent of Europeans that were coming to redo their lives from countries that were desolated by World War II. Colonists coming from diverse parts of the country were also included. Making of this area and the whole state the barn of Venezuela, providing rice, corn, sorghum, and other leguminous plants.

Once in Turen, we took a partially paved agricultural road that drives to Santa Rosalía, going by the Colony at N9 15 41,3 W 69 05 59,6, and the village Playón. We continued on this road until N9 01 03,2 W 69 01 17,2, from where we were at only 3 Km. from our objective, here we took an East bearing for a road without paving and guiding us from the previous reports on the project, we wnt directly to the silos located at N9 01 01.6 W69 00 04.6 and we took an unpaved road of access to the silos and the sowed field behind them. We traveled about 1900 mts until arriving to a point where you could see a track going East, we followed it for another 270 mts, we got off our vehicles and after walking about 50 mts found the confluence at 1:50 pm and 84,5 mts above the sea level.

The point is inside a corn field, the confluence dance was quick, fortunately, due to the hard sun, we took the pictures and returned quickly to the vehicles because a cloud of black and fats mosquitoes called "puyones" started to bite us.

We refresh with some very cold drinks and we started our way back. We decided to follow until the Florida river, about 9 Kms., where the river turtle called "TERECAY” is plentiful, we could also observe many sowed fields of rice, sorghum, corn etc. and some species of the typical fauna like white heron, deer, iguanas etc.
