13-Jan-2008 -- Two years ago, I marked this confluence within the plan of registering all of those that were near our holiday trip, but I did it from the 3 National Road at very long distance. This time, I decided to approach a little more to the confluence as near as possible; for what I took the detour to the old and forgotten spot of Puerto Lobos on the shore of the San Matías gulf, in front of the Atlantic Ocean.

There, after 13.7 miles of unpaved road, I arrived to the abandoned place, where only the walls of an old building remain. Probably it was a meeting point of fishermen and adventurers.

Puerto Lobos was in the past a place visited by fishermen and shellfishes and crustaceans searchers, but today it is only visited by curious people like me. It is an absolute lonely place, with an interminable beach of small rolling stones and reefs where you can find shellfishes in pools that appear with the low tides. The range of the tides is very wide, around 10 or 12 meters and the slope of the beaches is more than 45°. The beaches are beautiful but aren’t adequate for swimmers due to the big slopes and the strong winds that permanently blow.

The GPS indicated that there were 5.9 km between the confluence and us, but in the middle it was the sea: I couldn’t ford this type of waters yet. I walked to the sea and I could reduce the distance a little: 5.7 km (3.57 miles) was the best approach on shore.

I took some pictures and with my family we continued driving to Puerto Madryn following the old Provincial Route 1, which stored up, 100 km to the south our next attempt of visit, the 43°S 65°W.
