25-Feb-2008 -- Continued from 20N 54E.

After a wonderful camp in a big bowl we used the same track to get out of the sabkha without any trouble. Then we turned south-west towards the confluence 20N 53E, passing pretty high sand formations with no pattern. It was a very exciting drive. To get over one difficult dune we had to climb up with a little bit more speed. Afterwards the Landrover had to be repacked.

At 1 p.m. we reached the Confluence and had a nice lunch break. During this time we were calculating the gasoline we had used and figured out that our consumption was by far higher than planned. That meant we had to cancel the last confluence 21N 54E we had focussed on. But it did not bother us. The area is so wonderful we will be happy to come back one more time (if nobody will come before us).

So, we turned north towards the oasis again were we had stayed one night. Another day of exciting driving brought us back to civilization. A long drive on road and the usual kabsa in Ḥaraḍ and we were back home in Riyāḍ after a fantastic week in the amazing desert. For sure we will come back.
