02-Mar-2008 -- This is the fourth point in a journey by motorbike in India to visit 16 confluence points. The story starts at 22N 86E and follows on from 22N 84E. The next point in the series is 22N 82E.
From Jharsuguda we headed west on the NH 200 towards Raigarh. The road passes north of a major reservoir and passes from Orissa state into Chattisgarh state on the way. Raigargh is a large provincial time but fortunately has a bypass. Just before we reached Sakti in the early afternoon we turned off north to the point. The point lay down a small road leading to a village. The road twisted and turned but after passing right through the village the road passed within 50 metres of the point. We left the bikes by the rad and walked the short distance across to the point. Within a few minutes there was a group of village boys to watch us.
Degree of Challenge:
1 – A road led us to within 50 metres of the point. (1= very easy - drive to the point; to 5= a death march – glad it is over)
3 – In flat fields on the edge of a small village. (Scale: 1= not interesting at all; 5= take your breath away)
2 – An opportunity to see a small village at close quarters. (Scale: 1=dull; 5= most stimulating)
From the point we rode back through the village and carried on towards Bilaspur.
