12-Jun-2008 -- This is the 29th of a series of 83 confluence visits during our voyage from Nigeria to Europe and back to Nigeria around the entire African continent. It all started on 28 January at 11N 5E.

Yesterday after leaving the confluence 15N 17W, we drove to Tivaouane and further on to Louga. At Louga we turned of Niomré Lo and further to Keur Momar Sar; a few kilometres outside the town in the dunes we set up our camp for the night.

Early in the morning we packed up and continued to search for the Confluence. We managed to get as close as 1.5 kilometre on the tarred road. There we found a suitable path, which lead us close to the Confluence; the remaining 400 meters we drove cross-country, directly to the Confluence.

It did not take long before the first villagers arrived. All very curious about what we were looking for there, suspicions were that there must be oil. Several times I tried to assure them that there is no oil. I doubt that I was successful.

After completing all the necessary documentation, we continued our journey to Mpal. There were many tracks leading in all directions, so we relayed a lot on our GPS to get to Mpal and onto the main road to Saint-Louis where we spent a couple of days on the beach.

Continued at 18N 16W.
