#1: Confluence point

(visited by John Dag Hutchison and Carl Einar Gulbrandsen)

26-Sep-2008 -- We started out from a village north of Altea, got on to the southbound E15/AP7 and drove towards Murcia. Just after Orihuela we took a road southwards towards Santomera. We passed through the outskirts of the town and continued southwards to a T-junction where we took to the left. A short distance after the junction we found a sign pointing to Zeneta to the left. In the centre of the town we took a lane to the south through a residential area and followed the GPS which sent us into a lemon plantation.
At the entrance there was a chain on the ground, and a few hundred meters along the road we saw some workers burning old trees. We stopped before we reached them and headed off in a slightly different direction. That road was blocked by a chain, so we walked the next few hundred meters to the confluence point. The lemon trees were so big that it was difficult to get some meaningful photos. We therefore took a photo from the road about 50 meters from the CP too.

Back at the exit of the plantation we found that the chain which had been on the ground when we entered was now up and locked. We went back to the workmen and asked for their help. They did not speak English, but the boss fortunately spoke French. We explained why we were there, we showed him the print-outs of the former visitors' reports and finally a Google Earth print-out of the Zeneta village in which he could spot his own house. So we gave him the papers and he sent a man to unlock the chain.
