04-Jan-2009 -- During last Christmas holidays we made another travel through the Libyan desert, along the virtual line between Libya and Algeria, up to the oases of Awbāriy and al-`Uwaynāt.

The travel began on 27 December 2008, and ended on 09 January 2009, an expedition of about 5000 km, of which 2000 km off-road, in one of the less tourism-visited areas in the Sahara desert, through the endless and impressive sand of the Erg Awbāriy and the land of the castles of rock in Wādiy al-Murayġa, along the famous caravan route between the ancient cities of Ġadāmis and Ġāt, among dunes, expenses of sand, rocky highlands, oasis.

Directions were studied on the basis of the journey made by the Italian Royal Geographic Society in 1993 with geographic scientific purposes using one truck (25 spa) and one car (503 torpedo).

Along the carefully prepared travel we made one detour to reach the following Confluence supported by photographic evidence in the morning of Tuesday, 4 January 2009, at 12:18. Having inflated the tires to go to the track after the sand, we went in plain black rock for about 8 kilometers to reach the Confluence, until we reached and visited the intersection between meridian 26° and parallel 10°. This Confluence is near the borderline between Libya and Algeria, in an endless espanse sorrounded by black rocky buttresses.
