27-Mar-2009 -- This is the 59th of a series of 83 confluence visits during our voyage from Nigeria to Europe and back to Nigeria around the entire African continent. It all started on 28 January 2008 at 11N 5E.
Story continues from 3S 36E.
We spent the night in Karatu at the Kudu Lodge. We were leaving very early and wanted to go to Dodoma. The road till Kwa Kuchina is a good tarred road but then a very bad gravel road continues all the way to Dodoma.
In the early afternoon we reached Kondoa which is half way. We realised that we would not make it to Dodoma before it is getting dark, and decided to spend the night at Kondoa. It was still time to try to visit the Confluence.
We drove from Kondoa to Mondo and followed the way to Busi. The way bypasses the Confluence by 2 km. We tried in vain to get closer but did not find any path to get closer. We parked our vehicle and attempted to walk to the Confluence; unfortunately for us, it was very hot and we where very tired from the strenuous driving on these bad roads.
It was not long before we decided to return to the vehicle and go back to Kondoa.
