14-May-2009 -- This is the 64th of a series of 83 confluence visits during our voyage from Nigeria to Europe and back to Nigeria around the entire African continent. It all started on 28 January 2008 at 11N 5E.
Story continues from 24S 30E.
We had spent the night near the Golden Gate Highlands National Park in the Eastern Freestate. This morning we were entering Lesotho at Caledonsport and were driving to Butha-Buthe and continued to Leribe. Many years ago I lived in this village for 4 years.
We continued towards Maputsoe. Shortly after Maputsoe there is the turnoff to Mapoteng which we followed. After several km the road splits and we took the road towards Koeneng which passes the Corn Exchange. This tarred road passes the Confluence by 1 km.
A small path was leading us to the river. We would have crossed the river by car but the riverbed was so washed out that we decided to park the car and continue on foot to the Confluence.
