17-May-2009 -- This is the 67th of a series of 83 confluence visits during our voyage from Nigeria to Europe and back to Nigeria around the entire African continent. It all started on 28 January 2008 at 11N 5E.

Story continues from 32S 27E.

The last night we spent at Jeffrisbay. We got onto the N2 and followed this road in the direction of Knysna. Near Stormsriver is currently a road construction site for several kilometres. It was there where we turned off onto a private road and got onto a dairy farm. We got as far as the milking shed and were 800 meters from the Confluence.

We wanted to find someone to get permission to continue but no one was to be found. We decided to go back a kilometre where we found the farmhouse and where the farm manager is living. We explained our mission. He had no objection, outlined us the farm area, and mentioned that the Confluence might be already on the neighbouring farm.

So off we went back the milking shed and continued from there. As we got out of the car, it started raining as so many times lately. We walked through irrigated meadows and ended up at the end of the farm and 160 m from the Confluence. The river bordering the farm was in flood and it was impossible for us to cross.

The only option was to return and go onto the main road again and try the next turn off, which we did. This way we managed to drive as close as 140 meters, the rest was an easy walk through a meadow.
