20-Jan-2010 --

Ação no objetivo:

20-Jan-2009 --

Having noted the existence of the project through the 1st Lt/R2 FILIPE CHAVES PEREIRA, and knowing that the state of Pernambuco confluences of nine existing only one was left to be visited confluence 9 ° S 38 ° W, Colonel ALBUQUERQUE ERASMO DE SOUZA FILHO, Commander of 40th Infantry Battalion of Brazilian Army based in Crateús - EC decided to delegate the task of finding the last confluence of Pernambuco (9 °S 38 °W), called "Operation CONFLUENCE.

On 19 January 2010, at 09:30, I, 2nd Lieutenant SILIMAR COSTA DA SILVA, accompanied by 3 Sergeant GLEIDSON, and Soldiers VALCLESIO and RODRIGUES, we started towards the state of Pernambuco.

Traveling 810 km, the following itinerary: Crateús - New Oriental - Taua - Borders - Marcolândia - Arararipina - Ouricuri - Salgueiro - Forest, arrived around 20:00 in Petrolândia - PE, about 10 hours offset vehicle, spent the night in the Hotel on Sheik Petrolândia at dawn and began preparations for departure, collect some information from local people and set up departure toward the point at 08:00 January 20, 2010.

Following the initial planning, we take the BR110 that connects Petrolândia-Ibimirim in KM - 26 entered through a narrow road, navigating with GPS, about 17 km from the point. We found no visible access by satellite imagery that linked the BR 110 to the next point, the more we advanced in the field on vehicles it became more difficult, and GPS marked 14 km from the point straight, unable to move by walking due to the fact that the forest was difficult.

Exploring some access, at around 10 h 30 min in the morning, we reached a small farm where we were greeted by Mr. Edilson, who gave us some information on the region and took us to the house of his father Mr John SidRaido, a very old man who knew all the villages and access to the site. He told us that we were on the road linking the city of Inajá, passing through the villages of Agrovila XII, Craibera and Tiririca.

Following the recommendations, at exactly 1100 hours, we entered the village, Agrovila XII, navigating with GPS, marking about 11 km from the point. We took some information and continue on the road, take a sandy road without paving gravel, and found a small gate 3 km from the point, soon after yet another gate 2 km from the point. At 11:40, we arrived to a small farm named Ibuzeirão apparently abandoned, owned by Mr Sivirino, where we leave the car. This point was over the road and was the shortest distance from the confluence that we could reach by a vehicle; about 1820 meters marked the GPS straight.

We marked to point where we were leaving the vehicle on the GPS, prepare the material and set off at 1200h, towards the confluence, navigating with GPS and compass. The savanna was closed and the movement was slow, due to the density of vegetation, so with machetes and sickle we cut the vegetation and move on because the area was almost impossible for a team of only three people to move on and every time the GPS lost satellite signal, making further delayed the progress of the team. We arrived at the exact location of the confluence, at 15:00 hours.

Action on goal:

We took on 20 January 2010, at 15:00, we took photos of the place and started the preparation to return where we left the car with a member of the team. There was some difficulty in resetting the GPS in place, due to vegetation, open a clearing for the GPS to better capture the satellite signal, at one point there were several bees on site and this made a little difficult team action.

We took the photos of the site and pull back to the car, where we arrived around 16:40, so we started our return on the vehicle. After 10 km we reached Agrovila XII, around 18:20, we arrived at Petrolândia, the next day 21 January 2010, at 07:00, started the shift back to Crateús-Ce, we reached the 40th Infantry Battalion at around 10:00.
