(visited by Patrice de Wergifosse)

29-Apr-2011 -- I have been visiting the Confluence website for 4 years now, but never actually made a visit. I am preparing a trip from Dubayy to Belgium and plan to pay a visit to a lot of points in Syria and Turkey that are still unvisited so far. As I like to be in the middle of nowhere, I plan to make these visits the spine of my itinerary. If the situation in Syria grows worse, I will go through Iran where only 32 out of 170 points have been visited.

I wanted to train to report a visit before hitting the road, and I have chosen the point 25N 56E not too far from Dubayy in the Emirate of Ra's al-Khayma. It is a region I like with a lot of secluded wādiys and close to a lake where I like to go and swim. The lake has already lost 4 m of water due to evaporation and it was one of the last occasions to go before it dries out during summer.

The Confluence is easily accessible as it is close to the border fence. Since the last visit, there is a track passing 4 m from the point, leading to a new farm (visible in the background of East picture). They have just finished building watch towers along the fence as well but they don't seem manned yet.

This is my first successful visit. Hope the next ones will be that easy.
