#1: trip view

(visited by Franz Mittermayr and Toni)

13-Jan-2008 -- Starting at 11:00 AM from our hotel in Carrollton, KY, we were driving by car according to our GPS device. It was no problem to reach the final destination area. As we recognized how close we are, we left our car behind and walked. First in a wrong direction but soon we could fix the point - unfortunately inside a private property surrounded by a fence. We dared to knock at the door. The owner opened and we tried to explain what we want. I was pretty sure he won't understand us but quite the opposite happened. He asked: "You wanna see the point, I'll gonna show you. Let me just change the boots." Wow, that's what we never expected. He went up the hill with us to the small pond where the CP is located. My GPS showed the CP is in the pond.

The farmyard aside is in a hilly area where only few people are living. After talking with him we saw that he is proud to have a special point in his garden. He told us some stories of previous visitors, was very interested about our CP hunting and wanted to know how many points we have already. It was a long talk about his cows which he doesn't have anymore and about carp fishing in summer. For us, as not English native speaker, it was a little bit hard to understand the special dialect but the bottom line is: It was a great experience and we came to an area which we would never have seen without hunting CP's.

Coordinator's Note: This visit is classified incomplete because it does not meet the photo requirements of the project.
