12-Jun-2011 -- Brno - where is that?

A trip to the Czech Republic holds almost as many suprises as an African journey: Bumpy highways and camping on an ex-socialist youth campground. But on the other hand there are a countless number of castles and palaces. And that means loads of world heritage sites. It has been invested a fortune to restore the old buildings. The Bauhaus influenced Tugendhat Villa by Ludwig Mies van der Rohe unfortunately is hidden under scaffolding until 2012. Therefore we are visiting the Cultural Landscape of Lednice-Valtice established by the Liechtenstein family, and the confluence 49N 16E.

Off the road Biskupice - Jevišovice a farm is located in the middle of green wheat fields. A forest trail leads around the property passing a pond and lets us comfortably reach the Confluence. We didn’t like to dance to the last zero at this time of the year between meter-high nettles.

On the way home we passed another two more picturesque World Heritage Sites: The Jewish quarter of Třebíč, and the Old Town of Telč.
