18-Aug-2012 -- This is my 18th confluence point visit.

On our expedition to Gomīšān wetland (in the North of Iran), we decided to visit this confluence point. The point is located in the Caspian Sea; and this was our first confluence point to visit in the sea. It is located at about 2.5 km far from the coastline.

At first we tried to go to the point from Khvājeh Nafas, a small town in the north of Bandar-e Torkaman. But we noticed that we have to go through Gomīšān wetland, which is a protected area and we had not obtained the required permissions. Besides, the weather was too windy and it was dangerous to go by boat. So we decided to go and see another place called Naftijeh mud volcano that is some 40 km north to Bandar-e Torkaman.

In the afternoon, when the weather was rather calm, we decided to try again to visit the confluence point. This time we went to Bandar-e Torkaman. There are a lot of boats to hire at the port, for people who want to go to Āšūrā Deh island. We hired a boat and talked to the boatman to take us everywhere that we want!

We sailed some 14 km in the sea toward north to reach to the point. At the point there was a clear view of the coastline so that we shot the required photos. The water at the point was not so clear and this could be due to shallow water, windy weather, or the entrance of Gorgān Rūd river.

The group consisted of my friend Saeed Taghinejad, and I (Sirous Nekooei).
