English version

English

14-Apr-2013 -- After our visit to the point 12N 1W this morning with Soumaïla, we continue our trip towards the point 12N 0. This point has two interests: it is on the meridian line of Greenwich, and it was visited only once in 1999.

After our visit to the point 12N 1W, we come back to Ouagadougou and we take the national road N4 towards East. We pass Koupela and a little further we take a track towards the South in direction of Gounghin and Pissin. We reach the dam of Kolouoko where kids are plunging in the muddy water. We continue following the indications of the GPS. We cross some small valleys of rivers that are dry at this moment and a 4x4 car is necessary to pass.

The point is in a plain where people cultivate cereals (millet, sorghum) and cotton during the rainy season. There are some trees, mostly shea trees and raisiniers (Lannea microcarpa), some baobabs; one of them broke in two but continued to grow and got a funny shape.

The rock in the area is granite and in some places it forms.big rounded blocks.

And as usual on african roads, you can meet overloaded vehicles
