24-Feb-2014 -- This is the last out of 3 reports reaching or attempting confluence points around Valencia. After visiting 40°N 1°W I spent the night at a motel near the mountain village Albentosa.
The next morning I had a good piece of cycling ahead until I reached the city Castellón de la Plana. The confluence point is in the outskirts of the city in an area with little houses in-between orange orchards. The area would not have been my first choice for a living place, with barking protection dogs behind fenced properties and yards filled with less-needed objects. The confluence point was no exception – between two neglected but fenced off properties with simple huts on them. I was able to get as close as 13 m at the fence. I did not climb over the fence because healthy legs (think of dogs!) are more important to me than a couple zeros on a GPS device.
Actually, this confluence point is For Sale. This is already my third visit of a confluence being on offer. I didn’t buy the plot, although there are two facts that should increase its value:
First, a nice beach is only 2.5 km from the confluence point.
Second, it is a hyper-confluence with both, latitude and longitude being divisible by 10. There are only 17 * 36 + 2 = 614 hyper-confluences on Earth, with about 200 being located on land!
I quickly rode back to Valencia, reaching the city just in time for my evening flight back to Zurich.
