Nesse momento, eu estava a 5.400 metros do ponto exato, e a única alternativa seria deixar o carro ali e seguir o restante a pé.

19-Mar-2014 -- This narrative continues from 16S 47W.

After the first visit of the day, and after the stop to take a snack at Cabeceiras city, Goiás state, I headed to BR-020 highway, the highway that, in theory, joins Brasília and Fortaleza cities. I had already passed by BR-020 several times in confluence visits near Fortaleza, and this is the first time that I caught it in Brasília neighborhoods. However, when the highway is distant from the two extremities, it isn’t paved, and is useless, in practical, to join the two cities. The join is made by other highways.

I caught BR-020 and headed in northeast direction, departing from Brasília. I passed by Vila Boa city and headed some kilometers up to the start of dirt road leg.

As I cited in the previous narrative, the confluence visit of the morning was very tiring, because I had to hike by six kilometers, three of them in a bad terrain and undulating topography, with a lot of mounts and bottom valleys. To this new confluence, my expectation was that it would be more easy, because, according to satellite photos, there would be a dirt road that is heading up to less than 300 meters to the exact point.

When arriving at the beginning of the dirt road leg, however, to my surprise, there was a locked gate. At that moment, I was 5,400 meters to the exact point, and the unique option would be to leave the car there and follow on foot. The expectancy of a quick and easy visit changed to a more then 10-kilometers hike.

I jumped the gate and followed ahead. After hiking the first 3 kilometers, I arrived at the farm house, where there was other gate, unlocked in this time. Shortly after, I found a person. I explained him that I was making a hike and taking some photos. I asked permission to cross the gate and to go ahead. Permission granted, I followed ahead and hiked the remaining 2,400 meters.

As I had previewed, the confluence lay in a bush area less than 300 meters of the dirt road. I went up to the point and got all GPS zeroes.

I made the whole back hike and arrived at the point where I had left the car. I was very tired and very thirsty. I drank half a liter of water that I had left inside the car, spent some time resting and after I bought more half liter bottles of water in a gas station, was on the back way. It was more than 17:00.

Back to the BR-020 highway, going back to Brasília, I faced a traffic jam caused by an accident with a truck. The truck had left the highway (I don’t know how it did this, because it wasn’t in a curve) and they closed the highway to try to remove it. After some time trying, without success, they gave up and liberated the highway. When I followed ahead, the night was fallen and I was about 100 kilometers to Brasília.

I followed ahead at night and, to worsen, a thunderstorm fell in some moments. When I arrived at the city, I stopped in a mall to have dinner, delivered the car and went to the airport. It was more than 22:00 and my flight would be at 23:00.

I caught the plane in the previewed time and, after a stop at Teresina city, I arrived at Fortaleza city at 3:00. I arrived at home, took a shower and slept at almost 4:00. I was very tired, with a lot of sleepy, with pain in the legs and the back, due to the hikes, and sunburned. Although of this, in the following morning, I was already working.

This was the most tiring day of all ones dedicated to confluence visits. But, in any case, tiring visits aren’t a problem, if they are successful.
