20-Jul-2014 -- The confluence is located in southern Mali, not very far from the border with Côte d'Ivoire.
The road south from Bamako towards Sikasso is paved and in good condition, the traffic on Sunday is scarce. About 20 km after Bougouni and 180 km from Bamako, the road leading to Kolondieba is however unpaved. After reaching that town (and crawling through Kebila village where Sundays is obviously market day and the main street is full of people), it was a matter of getting as close as possible to the Confluence.
I proved to be lucky: I found a road that ended at a village about 700 m from the objective. After asking Mr.Diarra (a widespread name in this part of Africa) who was farming cotton and maize, if I could cross his field to go into the woods, I easily reached the Confluence after a short walk under the scorching sun.
