#1: The Confluence from 35 m Distance

(visited by Rainer Mautz)

16-Aug-2014 -- This is the second out of 3 reports reaching confluence points in Central France. The story continues from 46°N 1°E.

Central France is quite hilly. I felt that on my own body riding my bike to this confluence point coming from 46°N 1°E. The hills are not particularly high, ranging between 400 m and 800 m but roads always have an inclination of 10% up or 10% down.

Starting from Cieux at 10 AM, I got to the village Saint-Georges-la-Pouge (2.4 km) at 4:30 PM. From St. Georges, little roads lead up to a distance of 250 m and small forest tracks directly to the confluence.

The confluence point is located in a little beech grove with fallen, moss-overgrown trunks lying around. The interesting and unique feature however is this track with moss-overgrown walls. It passes by the confluence within 30 m and leads to a former compound. It is hard to estimate the age, but I am convinced that it origins from ancient times.

After the documentation I cycled further to Aubusson to have dinner and then continued further to the East. I spent the night under the stars near Auzances.
