29-Oct-2014 -- We were here for a week of vacation at the Chiemsee and wanted to do a day trip to Salzburg. On that occasion we wanted to visit a confluence point, too and add Austria to the list of visited countries. From Chieming we drove passing Traunstein and Waging to Laufen. We crossed the border to Austria which is the river Salzach and came to Oberndorf. On we went northwards on the L205 and the B156 and then from Niederarnsdorf in the direction North-East along small country roads through several hamlets to Gresenberg.

Like all other visitors we parked our car here after having asked a local of Gresenberg for permission. He knew about the Confluence and pointed in the direction South-East where it is located. But as several fenced pastures with cows blocked the direct access, we decided to walk along the paved street towards the forest and then approach the spot from North-East. We saw a herd of roe deer coming from the confluence and hiding in a reed field.

As already known, the confluence lies in a meadow which had been used recently by cows for grazing as you can recognize from a cowpat. In the North-North-East you can see Gresenberg, in the East lies a forest behind the mentioned reed field. In direction South you see a raised hide, probably waiting for the deer and in the West you see other hamlets, Braunsberg and Reicherting.

After we had taken the usual photos of the four cardinal directions and the GPS, we returned almost the same way to the car. While doing that we discovered some kind of sewer gutter of which the purpose we could not guess as it was not at the lowest area of the pasture.

We then continued our way to Salzburg and two days later we visited on our way home the confluence 48°N 12°E.
