#1: The Confluence from 15 m distance

(visited by Rainer Mautz)

02-Sep-2016 -- This is the second out of seven reports reaching confluence points in Western France. The story continues from 48°N 4°W.

Cycling during nice weather was a pleasure and the tail winds added to my joy. France offers great cycling due to a low population density in the country side. Nevertheless, the tiny hamlets are all connected within a network of small, asphalted county roads with hardly any traffic. I had lunch break in Lignol and reached the confluence shortly after in the early afternoon.

The confluence is located just 150 m from the channelled river Le Blavet. My approach to the confluence was somewhat sub-optimal: I parked my bicycle at the river and ascended a steep grade through a forest with thorny blackberries as ground cover. That climb had not been necessary, as the confluence is located in a fairly flat agricultural field with easy road access.

I measured the location of the confluence to be 2 m into a corn field. The neighbouring field had already been harvested. There is a small overhead powerline nearby. As you can see from my sweating, it was very hot.

I continued my trip towards the east, cycling a little bit along the river path.
