16-Aug-2000 -- At the end of our vacation in the South of France
(where we went after 43N 00W) we found the opportunity on August 16 2000
to visit another confluence point: 46N00W. Peter and I drove to the tiny village
of Longre in the French departement of Charente. The countryside is beautiful
and we hoped for lovely scenery at the confluence. We were not that lucky as
it was smack in the middle of a cornfield, with the crop as high as it will go. Still,
we had some luck: we found that the confluence point was on a track which is
kept clear for irrigation purposes. After we found the exact spot I lifted Peter on
my shoulders to make pictures of our surroundings. But in most directions all
you could see was corn and more corn. I include only the picture looking West.
We should come back to this location after the harvest, but it is about
1000 kilometers from home. We made some pictures of scenery nearby. I include
these pictures to give you all an impression of the lay of the land.
