18-Aug-2017 -- This would be the second confluence of the day, coming from 42N 113W earlier in the day. We were working our way north for the Total Solar Eclipse where we were planning to meet up with fellow confluencers at 44N 114W.

Our approach plan was simple: head west on W 1400 S and then park in a pull out directly south of the point and then hike the remaining distance to the confluence. As we approached this point, we noticed a crop duster flying north to south and back spraying the fields directly south and east of where we had planned to park thwarting our original plan. We continued to the intersection of 3600 West Road, turned north and parked in another pull out abeam a double track about 750 meters from the point. The crop duster appeared to be leaving and we hoped that it would be awhile before it came back. We walked east along the double track and then south across the open sagebrush directly to the point.

We found the confluence in a large shallow depression or bowl with the predominant ground cover consisting of sagebrush and dry grass. There was a sagebrush bush growing right on top of the confluence. I set up my Trimble GPS for later differential correction and sent another SPOT message declaring success while I took pictures of the general area.

Views in all directions were shortened due to the large depression but you can see the radial sprinkler in the fields in the view to the south.

Our 1.3-mile round trip hike took us 48 minutes. The round trip time from Route 39 (S 2700 W) was 1+40.

Post processing of the GPS data (482 positions) reveals that my Trimble GPS receiver was 3.054 meters bearing 006 degrees from the actual confluence with a Horizontal Precision of 2.0 meters.

Our adventure continues at 43N 112W.
