03-Jan-2018 – This is my first confluence visit. I decided to start visiting confluences as a New Year's Resolution. It was super easy to get to this specific point.
I started my confluence journey from Vydubychi bus station in Kiev, and took a bus to Rzhyshchev, which is located about 45 arcseconds south and 1.5 arcminutes east of the confluence. Once I jumped out of the bus, I went northwest along the P19 road. Some Rzhyshchev dogs, on private land, who barked at me, apparently don't like confluence visitors. Overall, I've spent around 1 hour walking to the point and back.
I arrived at the confluence point at 15:00 (3 PM). Once there, I occasionally managed to get readings of 50th parallel and 31st meridian, but I couldn't get both at once. I've spent a few minutes strolling in a circle about 6 m across to get the point, then my phone battery went to 7% and I decided to stay where I am.
The confluence is located in the historic area of Ukraine, where Trypilian culture (6000–2000 BC) and Kievan Rus (800–1200 AD) were located. Besides, there is not really much to see from the point, except nice trees. When I got back home, it was already dark.
