27-Mar-2014 -- The confluence point is located in a barren landscape, surrounded by steep hills.
For this trip we selected a point that is a few hundred kilometers from Santiago. We traveled to Combarbalá, spent a night there, and - before sunrise - took the first bus that went in the right direction. We jumped off the bus when the road came as close as possible to the confluence point and expected to quickly walk the remaining three kilometers from there. But we heavily underestimated the steepness of the terrain, so in the end it took us a full twelve hours to the point and back to the road.
Btw, the green plastic bowl that came with us is Herbie. Very loyal travel companion. Great guy!
