  52°N 15°E (visit #6)

#1: View to north

(visited by Thomas Barthel)

13-May-2018 -- From the city Guben/Gubin, divided by the river Neiße/Nysa, the route leads further direction east, into Poland. After driving only 20 km along the road DK32 the expected turning, direction north, appeared, about 1 km before the village Brzózka. It is an unpaved small way, seeming often used by cars. The distance to the confluence point 52°N 15°E was shown with just about 720 m beeline on the Garmin. The way leads straight direction northwest and would miss the aimed fish pond with the CP in it, as I was already informed by the DCP website. So I tried the first turning to the right, direction north east, about 600 m from the road DK32. That was correct and after further 310 m I have seen the pond already. Now I switched into direction pond and drove along the eastern shore until I found a suitable parking area. I checked the distance from the shore to the confluence point. And it was as from the other visitors mentioned before: about 9 meters were missing, to reach the exact point on dry land.

I went back and checked the massive wooden boat, lying on the northern adjacent pond. But it was really too heavy even to be moved. So I went back to the car and prepared the SUP board. After going a view steps down to the pond I put the board on the water, stepped on it and reached immediately the exact confluence point 52° North 15° East! After the pictures I did the hole procedure the other way around. The board became quite dirty because of the mud on the lakeside. It was really hot that day and luckily there were no mosquitoes.

The northern pond contained large mussels and a special mechanic feeding machine for the fish. In the distance I found the already documented "witness", a scarecrow.

The procedure of this confluence visit took place on a very sunny Sunday, around 1 pm. and nobody was seen on the spot. After packing my stuff back into the car and sweating a lot, I carried on to reach a second confluence point on that day.
