17-Jun-2018 -- Serendipitously I had the chance to have an extra holiday which I used to visit Japan. I did a bicycle trip on the main island Honshu. While this I could manage to visit some confluence points. The second one was the CP 35°N 138°E.
After heaving a nice barbecuing the evening before at the Kunowaki Water Park Camping Ground together with my two Japanese friends, I started my trip towards the CP 35°N 138°E, only about 7.9 km beeline from the camping site. In reality it became a distance of 19.7 km! At first I took HWY 473 which leads to the HWY 362. After 6.8 km direction west I took the road 263 leading further direction west. Most of the way the road leads along the Kumakiri River (熊切川). Around noon I reached the nearer area the confluence point. I found the t-junction mentioned by the two former visitors. The concrete way, named Rindō Taruyama-sen (林道樽山線), leads steep upwards, passing a house and a smaller tea plantation. The way up was very steep, it was warm, no wind at all and I sweat like hell! After 900 m uphill I parked the bicycle on the way and entered a logger path, leading direct to the closer confluence area. The hilly surrounding is wooded by conifer trees. The path/trail, mentioned by the two former visitors, was widened now and blocked for cars by a metal chain. From here the GPS showed only 93 m to go to the exact location. In reality it became longer, because you had to walk a semi-circle around a hill.
Soon I found the final location on a steep slope, inside a bend and it was clear that I had to balance on some cut trees to reach the exact confluence point. After a short confluence dance on the trees I got all the zeros of the confluence point 35°N 138°E! It was about noon and cloudy when this visit took place and nobody was to seen at the spot or near the house at the road 263. In comparison with the pictures 13 years ago, it sticks out that some trees were cut out, that the locker path became wider and that the path leads deeper down into the valley.
Quite exhausted I had a break at my bicycle after this visit. A view minutes later I was back on the road 263 and continued my trip direction Nagoya. Apart from the very steep uphill this confluence point was quite easy to visit.
