(visited by Thomas Barthel)

21-Jul-2019 -- During our summer holidays in Canada, I took the chance to visit some confluence points. The story continues from 46°N 72°W visit #3.

After we had a break in Cornwell we have done a really beautiful drive along the ten islands of Long Sault! Afterwards we were back on the road CR2. Here the GPS was showing a distance of 2.1 km to the confluence point 45°N-75°W, straight across the village Ingleside. I followed the roads until I found the dead end, leading nearly straight to the CP. After parking at the junction Ault Dr./Beech Str. I started the visit by foot. I walked along the forest aisle, direction NNW. This way is like the extension of Ault Drive and very strong overgrown with head-high grass. Many mosquitoes accompanied me. To reach the exact confluence point I had to cross a water ditch, which is at the eastern side of the aisle. At luck I found a proper tree trunk, laying over the ditch. Stout-hearted I ran over it. After some meters through the trees I reached the aimed spot. Very soon I could take the picture of the exact cardinal compass directions at 45°N and 75°W! Many deer flies and mosquitoes have been at the site - directly next to the ditch, with standing water in it and an enormous heat and humidity at this time of the day! So I hurried up to reach the car. Maybe that's why I didn't took the time to visit the famous road "45th Parallel Drive".

After this short-term-visit we stayed at the beautiful "Farran Park Camp Ground", only 1.5 km away from the confluence point! The next day we visited the Upper Canada Village, which was really great!

The story continues at 44°N 77°W visit #4.
