#1: Our first snapshot of the swamp

(visited by Alex Jarrett and Peter Cline)

12-Sep-1997 -- On our bicycle trip across the continent, we stopped for one degree confluence in the Upper Peninsula of Michigan. It was located a quarter of a mile off of US Highway 2, and then several hundred feet into marshy grass and trees. We jumped, slurped and balanced through swampy, squishy terrain to a spot with tall grass and short trees.
