07-Jan-2001 -- We succeeded at the one due east of here, so we thought,
"Why Not?" MUD was why not. 34N/102W is nearly in the small
community of Cotton Center, north of Lubbock in the Llano
Estacado of Texas. The actual spot is to the right of the
"modules" of cotton in the picture; these are about the size
of a semitrailer and seem to be the modern version of a ten
foot long sack dragged down the row.
A good snow earlier in the week was just finishing melting
the day we visited. The field was sticky mud, and 500 yards
of it would be too much for a weenie like me to attempt in
tennis shoes. So this confluence will have to wait for a
drier day.
