(visited by Jerry Kimbrough and Ralph Rosson)

28-Oct-2000 -- The confluence is located about 100 meters east of county road 494 in northwestern Anderson County, Texas, USA. Ralph and I headed out from Palestine around noon and drove the 25 miles to the Cayuga oil field prepared for a 4 mile round trip hike, but hoping for only a short walk. The aerial photo showed a dirt road just west of the confluence, the question was whether the road was public or private. After a couple of premature dead end turns off US Hwy 287, we turned onto county road 493, then onto C.R. 494. As we approached the area near the confluence I realized that the dirt road in the aerial photo was the one we were on. It had been paved since the photo was made and was...public!

The confluence is on private land, but the area is very rural and no one was around, so we crossed the barbed wire fence and leisurely strolled the 100 meters through the pasture to the confluence. We took the necessary photos and then headed home around 1:00, feeling very satisfied with the ease of our first confluence visit. Picture 1 is the view from the confluence looking east. Picture 2 is Ralph at the confluence northing and easting. Picture 3 is the view from the confluence looking north. Picture 4 is the view from the confluence looking south. Picture 5 is the view from the confluence looking west. Picture 6 is the Garmin with a lot of zeros on it. Satellite geometry was good with an EPE of 3 meters. Picture 7 is me at the confluence.
