(visited by Laurie L. Edgerton, Sean Korb and Jason M. Sullivan)

11-Sep-1999 -- We were going to hit three confluences that weekend, but I learned a major rule of vacationing: never plan too many things to do (or maybe: go ahead and plan, but don't worry to much about completing the plan).

All the same, we hit the first and only confluence of the weekend in record time, getting to Corinth (a much smaller town slightly North of the confluence). We were on our way to the Outer Banks, and only had to divert our course a few miles north.

We parked the RV (yeah, we were going in style) in a church parking lot, and got out to get our bearings, and give the GPS a better view of the sky. A nice woman at the church asked if we needed directions, and didn't understand why we found that quite so funny.

We trudged about a kilometer back down NC 58, a hundred meters or so into a field (avoiding the areas where the crop was growing), got to within 40 meters of where the GPS said we should be, and called it good.

The other two we planned for that weekend ended up postponed until later. We'll get to them when the rest of the water drains out of eastern North Carolina.
