#1: Landscape

(visited by netrunner and Mister Saigon)

Coordinator's comment:
We originally had this visit misfiled under a different set of coordinates. Thanks to Ulrike Wiesner and Luca Bartolini, who did not know it had been visited in May, and their pictures, as well as the attempt at 44°N 12°E by Hans Augdoppler, we were able to file this under the correct coordinates.

18-May-2001 -- Ok, the third confluence on my Italy trip was easy to approach. But nobody tell me that we have not been in danger. It could have been an easy one. Easy to get there, easy to mark, and easy to leave. But no, I have chosen the confluence at the shooting range. I could not know that, but is this really fortune?

Well, we went there after buying a lot of the famous vine from Montepulciano (and bet – we did not only buy it :). It was a warm, sunny day, just right for marking some confluences.

The dusty road we found took us to a field we just had to cross for the confluence. But what were these sounds? Like swarms of hornets, and little explosions?

I had already realized it to be gunshots, while my father, captain in the German army by the way, began to analyze the caliber and type gun. But we decided that this was not the right place to stay long, so we sneaked to the point where the Garmin I borrowed from Ray showed me the confluence was.

We took the few pictures you can look at here and left – fortunately without a scrape (not like at the last confluence some days ago).
