20-Jun-2001 -- An unremarkable spot in a copse of indigenous trees very close to a river confluence. About 5 m from a giant termite nest (about 4 m high, 10 m base diameter). Photos were taken from the spot and also from the top of the termite hill. The neighbouring trig beacon was also visited on a massive boulder on a nearby (750 m distant) rock outcropping and the area also photographed from there.
Antbear holes, an abandoned bridge and subsistence farming maize fields were traversed on the way to the location. Much useful assistance was received from the local farmers who showed us the way along the farm roads to the closest approach and took time off from the Zimbabwe vs. West Indies cricket match to do so, which was being held at the Harare South country club about 5 km from the Confluence.
