27-Jun-2001 -- As you can see from the picture, this confluence was in the middle of a small lake. No wonder no one had visited it yet. This summer has been exceptional in Finland, and the weather was usual, very warm and sunny.

We had our little inflatable boat with us. It was supposed to carry four people, and we were only three, so there was plenty of room for everyone.. (check the pictures). The road to the lake was quite easy, 120Km of highway and maybe 40Km of country roads. We ended up driving the yard of a local family, which rents rooms for tourists. They allowed us to use their beach for our mission.

You may want to check the satellite image of the lake, which was provided by Marcus. The confluence spot was south of the small cape which reaches into the middle of the lake. We started from the southside beach of the tip of the cape, and made a few rounds around the spot since the wind was pushing us here and there. We never made the double zero-spot, but quite close in the end. From our GPS screen we could see that we had sailed right across the spot, but didn't get a photo of the event. Weird enough, the GPS says our altitude was 125m at the surface. We know, it's because of the GPS estimates the ground surface, but it's funny anyways.

Extra thrill was added when other one of our paddles broke. Some serious paddling to get the broken part back before it sunk was needed.
