20-Aug-2001 -- During a holiday trip in beautiful Liguria with our families we (by the way we are all radioamateurs Tom OE9PTI, Heinz DL2TO, Gerhard DL6GAR) planned to do our first confluence point .
At this time temps in the area were around 35C and more, so we waited for an overcast day which we found on Monday 20.8. temp was "only" 30C so we started our expedition, heading from our holiday Base in Cervo about 25km to Testico which is a nice little mountain village next to our point.
Following our GPS arrow on HW SP13 we found out that we never got any closer then 500m to our point which seemed to be on top of a hill. This was not possible at all in our "holiday clothes".
So we took our first pictures and thought we let this be our first attempt.
Driving home a different way we drove around the mountain direction SP23 – SP95 and found a small walking path about 1,5 km far from our conf-point . So we started our GPS receivers again and followed the path. After each of us lost a lot of sweat in the heat and defended ourselves from boring wasps we found our confluence point 10m near a small footpath at 770 Altitude.
Special Thanks to Dr. Werner Furlan OE9FWV who infected us with the "Confluence Virus"
